Searchlights is an entirely new programme for Common Worship and is written by David Adam, poet-priest from Lindisfarne and one of the country?s most respected and admired Christian writers.
The all-age book provides an abundance of inspirational worship ideas for all members of the Church community, nurturing them individually and as a congregation into a loving and living relationship with God.
For every Sunday throughout Common Worship Year A this resource book provides: preparation details, including the aim of the service and practical suggestions; an opening all-age activity; prayer and song; thought for the day, reflecting on the Common Worship readings for the Principal Service; questions to challenge and promote further reflection and discussion; an illustration to bring the teaching alive; a complete set of intercessions; a memory verse to focus the teaching; suggested hymns, both traditional and modern; and fully-worked out programmes for pre-school children (Candles), children (Lamps) and youth (Torches).
The book is meant to be used with the other books available in the Searchlights series to complete the programme: prayers of intercession; sermon illustrations, providing readings, a comment and illustration for each Sunday of the year; one book for each age group (Candles, Lamps and Torches), which include photocopiable worksheets for every Sunday (these are not included in the Complete Resource book but only in the Searchlights Candles, Searchlights Torches and Searchlights Lamps books).
