One theme dominates Advent - waiting. Just as God's people of old waited for the Messiah, so we wait for the return of Christ in fulfilment of God's purpose, for the establishment of his kingdom on earth.
Ready and Waiting explores this theme in five sessions. The first two sessions look at patience and trust - both essential gifts for anyone called to wait, and vital both in life and faith. The third session explores how we can help prepare the way of Christ and equip ourselves for the life of faith. Session four reminds us of the blessings God holds in store for us, the promises that should shape our attitudes and expectations each moment of every day. Action is the theme of the final session, Advent bringing challenge as well as promise, confronting us with a call to respond.
Beginning and ending each session with passages of Scripture, Nick Fawcett has included hypothetical scenarios that bring each theme down to earth and help to explore what they might be saying to us today in terms of our relationship with God and with others.
