Rend Collective Experiment is difficult to describe. This said, when considering this outfit and trying to analyse it for just what exactly it is, one adjective screams louder than the accompanying thoughts that bounce around my brain: authentic.
Rend Collective (as the band is often affectionately referred to) is made up of about 15 Irish young men and women who share two passions: God and music. The result is an eclectic mix of music that ranges across the genres from rock to folk.
Songs from Rend Collective's two albums contain themes of redemption, devotion and celebration; the hearts of these passionate believers laid out in the open through eloquent lyricism and raw musical talent.
Apparently free from the common trappings of commercialism and celebrity, this "family" (as they like to call themselves) produces a unique and refreshing sound.
Homemade Worship By Handmade People is the second example of the fruits of Rend Collective Experiment's pursuit of organic sung theology that presents itself in the form of fresh melodies straight from the heart.
Song titles include 'You Are My Vision', 'Second Chance' and 'Whatever I Have' (feat. Kathryn Scott).
