The latter chapters of Isaiah are written to a hurting, captive people, with the Babylonian nation in the ascendancy, having overrun Judah and reduced Jerusalem to rubble, taking its inhabitants into exile, their destiny and sense of purpose undermined. But things were about to change! Isaiah's message is one of hope, his word is positive and brings comfort. It is a word to which many in our church today will relate. Through it God speaks tenderly to His people, promising to bring treasures out of the darkness.
