Pentecost is the time when Christians celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. Before Jesus returned to heaven, he promised his disciples he would send them the Holy Spirit to be their constant guide and enabler. This happened at Pentecost which is also known as the birthday of the Church. The disciples were transformed by their experience that day. They were filled with joy and boldly proclaimed the message of Jesus. The colour red is often used in churches to symbolise the Holy Spirit's power.
