Although not a denomination with a liturgical tradition, the Baptist Church does have a considerable number of service for which some set form of words is needed - holy communion, weddings and funerals, obviously, but also thanksgiving and dedication for a baby; adult baptism; receiving into church membership; the commissioning of deacons, elders, youth workers and other church officers; ordination of ministers; dedication of a new church building and many more such occasions.
It has been more than two decades since the last such service book was published and this draws on the liturgical renewal that has taken place in recent years to create texts that are both beautiful and versatile.
The authorised service book of the Baptist Church in England and Wales contains complete service outlines for holy communion, weddings, funerals, presentation of infants, adult baptism and much more. Introductions to the origins and significance of the rites are included. A CD version is to follow for use with Powerpoint and other media.
