Every New Year’s Eve, people all over the world make New Year’s resolutions - some Christians determine that this year will be the one they, at last, will read all of the Bible.Â
But how best to read the Bible? The most obvious way, of starting at Genesis 1 and just keeping going, is not always the most helpful - so, a realistic plan or programme is needed to guide us in our reading. Philo Trust is making the the Bible Reading Plan that the 19th century pastor and evangelist, Robert Murray M’Cheyne devised in December, 1842 and made available to his church flock in Dundee, Scotland.Â
J. John Says:
"There are many Bible reading plans and this year Killy (my wife) and I have been following the 19th century pastor and evangelist, Robert Murray M’Cheyne's Bible Reading Plan, which, over a year, takes you through the Old Testament once and the Psalms and New Testament twice. Let me encourage you to use this plan to read the Bible humbly, confidently and prayerfully and, in particular, expectantly. As you read you will find within its pages God’s living, giving and forgiving message and be refreshed, renewed and re-visioned for the year ahead.
This Bible Reading Plan is a an excellent gift to give to anyone who resolves that 2021 will be the year they read the whole Bible." - J.John, December 2020
